by Kate Joiner, 2019
24" x 12" x 1 13/4"
Acrylic, pastel, paper, acrylic medium mounted on cradled birch panel.
She is rough and loose an unfinished. She is powerful, strong and beautiful.
The words written in the background are created through spontaneous thoughts, somewhat related to the piece. I have been exploring the what happens to your thoughts during insomnia. As a study, I recorded my thoughts during a sleep night and found they were all non-sequiturs. So the words "Maybe Something for the Wall" were my thoughts in the night as I was trying redecorate my own home. The words are slightly hidden and unfinished just like the unfinished thoughts that come and go through the night. I do not title the pieces after these words because they are not the most important part of the piece and are left to be interpreted by the viewer.
