"About Last Night" was painted as reprieve after a long day working on a very tedious piece that was forcing me to paint intricate details which are so "blah" me. So that night I did a painting for me. Not worrying about the outcome. I am happiest when painting free flowing figures and not having to fixing all the small details , letting the mood and expression be defined by the paint.
This piece was painted on wood, with a background of very deep blue color with a teensy little sparkle that can be seen under the right lighting. the bold loose colors add a contrast and vibrancy and hyper tension that may resonate with some of us during Covid.
What I love most about this piece is that the door is so prominent and the mask is barley visible, almost as an after thought, the new norm.
